D. Jeremy Demar Candidate for Regional Co-VP Hampden and Berkshire

Hello fellow MCSA Members, my name is D. Jeremy DeMar and I am declaring my candidacy for Regional Co-VP for Hampden and Berkshire Counties. I currently serve in this position for the MCSA with my colleague Erin Hastings.

Professionally, I am the Director of Emergency Communications for the City of Springfield, a position I have held since January 2018. Prior to my appointment, I worked for the Emergency Communications Department in Rochester, NY, most recently as a Shift Supervisor, and prior to that, as a Dispatcher II and Police Dispatcher. I was a firefighter and emergency medical technician with two fire districts in Monroe County (NY) for 13 years.

In addition to my service with the MCSA, I serve on a number of industry based, state, and federal committees. At the industry level, I was co-chair of the National Joint TERT Initiative, LLC for several years and was a Board Member of APCO’s Atlantic Chapter. Currently, I serve on APCO’s Agency Training Program Certification (ATPC) Committee and Vice Chair the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Writing Group. I am also an RPL course facilitator. I am a Board Member of the Next Generation 9-1-1 Institute, and a Public Safety at Large member of DHS First Responders Resource Group and DHS SAFECOM.

Academically, I am a NENA Emergency Number Professional (ENP) and Center Manager Certification Program (CMCP) graduate, a FEMA Credentialed COML, an APCO Registered Public Safety Leader (RPL) and I am currently a student in APCO’s Certified Public Safety Executive (CPE) program. I hold a Masters Degree in Homeland Security from the Naval Postgraduate School, A Bachelors Degree in Emergency Management from SUNY Empire State College, and an Associates Degree in Fire Science from Monroe Community College,

I look forward to serving the MCSA in this critical capacity for our state and our profession.
